The Bay Area Anti Repression Committee is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Bo Brown on Sunday after a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia. Bo was a fierce, fearless, principled, butch dyke revolutionary, who consistently fought against racism, imperialism, prisons and patriarchy her entire life. Bo was committed to building intergenerational movements, and helped guide so many young militants in the Bay Area and beyond. From the beginning of ARC 10 years ago, Bo was always there. She came to events, she could be called on for questions or advice, she always treated us as equals. She helped us develop ideology and practice and reminded us that theory without action has no teeth. She encouraged us to be brave, to challenge ourselves and each other and not be afraid of difficult conversations. We as a collective are indebted to her presence both personally and politically.
We send our deepest support and love to her amazing and devoted partner of over 20 years, Etang, and to all those in the Bay and the rest of the world who are mourning the passing of this wonderful woman. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have existed in the same moment in history as Bo and to be among those that had the privilege of calling her Comrade, Community, and Family.
